Celebrate Silver Wedding

Fred W. Gamm and wife celebrated their silver
wedding last Sunday afternoon and evening at their home, 221 College
Avenue. On this happy occasion were
present all their children as follows:
Mr. and Mrs. Theo. Gamm and family of Sullivan; Rev. and Mrs. E. R. Gamm
of McIntosh, S. Dak.; Mr. and Mrs. E. Winter Gamm of
Lebanon; Edward Gamm of Aberdeen, S. Dak.; Miss
Martha Gamm of Minneapolis; Miss. Severa Gamm, Ralph
and Fred Gamm of this city. Others
present were Mrs. M. Wartschow, a sister of Mrs. Gamm
of Colby; Mr. and Mrs. John Gamm of Watertown; Mrs. August Gamm and Miss. A.
Gamm of Milwaukee; Miss Sophie Gamm of this city; Mr. and Mrs. O. Uttech of Lebanon.
Mr. Gamm is the popular cashier of the Bank of Watertown, with which bank he has been
connected 28 years. Mr. and Mrs. Gamm
are two of Watertown’s most esteemed citizens, and have the hearty wishes of
all our people that they may live to celebrate many happy returns of their
wedding day.

Fred W. Gamm, of this city,
former cashier of the Bank of
Watertown and now acting temporarily as the cashier of the Ixonia State
Bank, was credited today with having thwarted an attempt to rob the Ixonia bank
Friday afternoon. Mr. Gamm was alone in
the bank when two armed men entered the place and ordered him to 'stick 'em up'. He complied
with their request and started edging slowly toward a rear door. Just as
he reached the exit Gamm leaped and escaped into a back room. The two armed men evidently feared he had
gone for assistance and fled without attempting to obtain any loot. Mr. Gamm notified authorities and bankers
here learned of the holdup attempt some time later.

Adolph Gamm and Hedwig Schlimpf
Mrs Thomas A. Thompson, 56, of 823
Tompkins Dr., died Wed. (3-3-1965) in a Madison hospital after a brief
illness. The former Severa
Gamm was born in Watertown and was a Madison resident for the past 25 years.
She was married in 1934. Mrs Thompson was a graduate of Northwestern College in Watertown and was
employed as supervisor at the Rural Mutual Insurance Co. Survivors include her husband; two sisters,
Mrs. E. H. Winter, Lebanon; and Mrs. Arthur Bratass,
Minneapolis, MN; three brothers, the Rev. Edgar Gamm Sr., Marshall, MN; Eldor Gamm, Ft Worth, TX; and Fred Gamm, Milwaukee. The funeral will be Saturday in the East Side
Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2310 Independence Lane, with the Rev. Karl G. Bast officiating. Burial
will be in Watertown [Oak Hill Cemetery].
