Carolina Meinhardt

1842 - 1925

Watertown Gazette, 02 23 1925

At the close of a lingering illness, Mrs. Carolina Meinhardt died February 17, 1925, at her home, 210 Jones Street.

Her sister, Mrs. Anna Roth, and her nephew and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Fred. C. Krahmer, made their home with her for several years past.

She was a native of Germany, where she was born 83 years earlier, and she resided in Watertown for 73 years. She was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Egle, her maiden name being Carolina Egle.

Her funeral took place from the Barry J. Krier Co. Funeral Home to St. Henry's Catholic Church.   The interment was in St. Henry's Cemetery.

Mrs. Meinhardt for many years was a practical nurse, long before we had St. Mary's Hospital here and before we had trained nurses. Her services were constantly in demand, and faithfully and well did she attend the sick and needy.

For many years she administered at many times when sickness visited the editor's large family, all of whom remember her very kindly as a most, worthy and devout lady, and mourn her death as that of and a woman who surely led a pious and useful life.
