Oscar P. Schmeling

1913 - 2007

 

Oscar P. Schmeling, 93, of Oconomowoc, formerly of Watertown, died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2007, at Shorehaven Nursing Home of Oconomowoc.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church with the Rev. Terry Larson officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Watertown.

 

Friends and relatives may call to pay their respects at the church Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be made to the ELCA Hunger Appeal.

 

Pederson Funeral of Watertown is serving the family.

 

He was born Aug. 5, 1913, in Johnson, Minn., the son of Amos and Anna (Ebert) Schmeling. He married Marian Rhodes on Feb. 24, 1945, in Watertown. He farmed in the town of Emmet for most of his life and also worked part-time at Globe Milling in Watertown for many years. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Watertown.

 

Survivors include two sons, Richard (Gayle) Schmeling of Green Bay and Steven Schmeling of Milwaukee; one daughter, Catherine (David) Henninger of Oconomowoc; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Shelia Schmeling of Watertown; one sister, Lucille Schmeling; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife on April 23, 2007, one sister and four brothers.
