Larry E. Sterwald

1938 - 1998

 

Larry E. Sterwald, 59, of 214 Elm St., Watertown, died on Thursday, Aug. 13, 1998, at Meriter Park Hospital in Madison.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. James Werner officiating.  Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery.

 

Sterwald was born Nov. 9, 1938 in Wauwatosa, son of Raymond C. and Violet (Ebert) Sterwald. He married the former Eileen Zwieg on Dec. 3, 1960 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Sugar Island.  He was a graduate of St. Mark's Lutheran Grade School in Watertown and attended Watertown High School.

 

He took EMT training and had been employed at the Watertown Fire Department for 23 years.  He served in the Wisconsin National Guard, 32nd Infantry Division.

 

Sterwald was a member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church and served on various committees of Whitetails Unlimited. He was an avid hunter, sportsman and camper.  He also did wood carvings.

 

Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Brenda (Dean) Loppnow of Sullivan and Amy (Kevin) Ekholm of 'Watertown; a son, Brian (Karla) of Ashippun; three grandchildren; two brothers, Keith (Co Ellen) of Juneau and James (Gina) of Gwinn, Mich.; two nieces; a nephew; an aunt, Pearl Dring of Watertown; other relatives and friends.

 

He was preceded, in death by his father, Ray, and his mother, Violet Schroeder.
