Leon H. Riedl

 

1920- 2015

 

Leon H. Riedl, 94, of Watertown, passed away Monday, Jan. 19, 2015, at Rainbow Hospice Care in Johnson Creek.  A private service will be held Sunday at the Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown with Chaplain Shannon Finger of Rainbow Hospice officiating.  Burial will be in St. Henry Catholic Cemetery in Watertown.

 

There will be no visitation.

 

Hafemeister Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Watertown is serving the family.

 

Leon Henry Riedl was born in Ixonia on Nov. 4, 1920, son of Henry and Anna (Motl) Riedl.  He served in the U.S. Army during WWII.  On Oct. 12, 1946, Leon married the former Loraine Korth at St. Henry Catholic Church in Watertown.

 

Leon was part of the Riedl Brothers Builders and built many homes in Watertown and surrounding areas. He had also been employed at the former Schweiger Furniture Company in Jefferson and at the Mid State Shoe Factory in Watertown.  Leon enjoyed boating with his family and in his retirement he and Loraine enjoyed traveling the country in their motor home.

 

He is survived by his wife, Loraine of Watertown; five children, Betty (Larry) Stonecypher; James (Joanne) Riedl; Paul (Lois) Riedl; Beverly (Robbin) Reichert and Ronald (Shirl Henning) Riedl; 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; three stepgreat-great grandchildren; a sister, Margaret (Herbert) Schroedl, as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

 

Leon was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jerome and five brothers.
