Henry Pitterle

97th Birthday

02 22 1971

Henry Pitterle, a resident of Marquardt Memorial Manor at the time, observed his 97th birthday on Feb. 22, 1971.

This was a spry gentleman, whose looks belied his years.

A party attended by friends and relatives was held at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Wanke, Route 5.

A retired farmer, Mr. Pitterle had been a lifelong resident of the Watertown area.  He was born Feb. 22, 1874.  He had resided at Marquardt Manor since October of 1969.  Before that he lived with Mr. and Mrs. Wanke.

Mr. Pitterle continued to enjoy very good health as his 97th birthday neared.  He remained active. The feeding of the birds, pheasants, squirrels and rabbits on the grounds of the manor is one of his pet projects.

In addition to the daughter living on Route 5, Mr. Pitterle had a son, Norbert, who resided at 701 West Main Street.  He had six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.  A widower, his wife was the former Laura Indra.
