Donald Reynolds

1915 - 2010

 

Donald G. Reynolds, 94, of Watertown, passed away Tuesday morning, Feb. 9, 2010, at Watertown Regional Medical Center.

 

A funeral Mass will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Watertown with Monsignor Daniel Ganshert officiating.  Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Watertown.  Visitation will be from noon until the time of the Mass.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Bernard's Athletic Booster Club.

 

Donald Gordon was born in Hubbleton on Oct. 26, 1915, son of Thomas and Mary (Cunningham) Reynolds.  He married the former Georgia Richards in Watertown on June 4, 1949.  Georgia preceded him in death on Aug. 14, 2006.

 

Donald was a Watertown High School graduate and attended St. Mary's College in Winona, Minn.  He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.

 

Donald had been employed in sales with the former Tri-County Company in Watertown.  He had owned and operated the former Piccadilly Smoke Shop and retired from the former G.B. Lewis Company, both in Watertown.

 

Donald was a lifelong member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church and a former member of the Watertown Elks Lodge.  He enjoyed coin collecting, hunting, fishing and was an avid sports fan.

 

He is survived by his son, Terry (Marie) Reynolds of Cincinnati, Ohio; his two grandchildren, Jonathan and Kathryn; a brother-in-law, Leo Checkai; other relatives and friends.

 

He was also preceded in death by his parents; his sisters and brothers, Anna Marie Bauman, Helen Checkai, Margaret Ronzani, Thomas Reynolds, Harry Reynolds, James Reynolds and Alice Ethel Finnel.

 

Donald was the last member of his immediate family.
