1964

07 02 1964 <> A century-old barn, restored by the Watertown Historical Society, will be open to the public.  It is located on the Octagon House grounds.  The barn was given to the society last July by Mr. and Mrs. Harry S. Moore, of the House of Moore, Willow Street, after they learned of the organization’s need for additional space.  Exhibits have now been set up in the barn depicting a pioneer kitchen and old farm implements.

1968

09 24 1968 <> A historical marker was placed recently on the pioneer barn on the Octagon House grounds by the Saturday Club.  The barn was donated in 1963 to the Watertown Historical Society by Mr. and Mrs. Harry Moore after they used it as the site of their ceramic studio.  The marker was donated by the club as part of its community improvement and historical marker program.  The barn was built by a Wenzel Quis in the late 1850s on the Watertown Plank road, its original location across the Rock River from the Octagon House.  Early travelers in this area used the barn as a stopping off place to feed and shelter their cattle and horses.
