She lived in Milwaukee for four years when employed as a maid by Chester Wanwig, then president of Globe Milling.

Valera married Erwin E. Krueger at St. Paulís Lutheran Church in Ixonia on Sept. 6, 1936, and resided in Watertown since then. They built a home at 212 Dewey Avenue and resided there 55 years. They had no children but Valera treated her nieces and nephews as her own.

She was a member of the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Watertown.

Valera loved crocheting afghans for many relatives, friends and nursing homes. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, baking and had a green thumb growing beautiful roses and African violets.

Valera was the last member of her immediate family.

The family would like to thank Anne and residents at Loppnow Apartments for their friendship, Sherri and her staff at Zinzendorf Assisted Living for their loving care, hospice nurse, Jayne for her tender loving care and Barb at Marquardt Health Center for all her assistance. Also, to Dr. Holden and his staff for their kindness, and the second floor nurses and doctors at Watertown Regional Medical Center for their wonderful care. The family deeply appreciates all of you.
