Gilbert Koehler

1919-2012

 

Gilbert F. Koehler, 92, of Watertown, passed away Tuesday evening, March 20, 2012, at the Watertown Regional Medical Center.

 

Gilbert was born in Watertown on Aug. 4, 1919, son of Arnold and Agnes (Uttech) Koehler. He was a 1937 graduate of Watertown High School.

 

On Sept. 22, 1941, he married Mildred Burmaster at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Watertown.

 

Gilbert farmed and had been employed at G.B. Lewis in Watertown for many years until his retirement. He was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Watertown.

 

Gilbert “Gib/Papa” is survived by a daughter-in-law, Karen (John) Harmon of Manchester, Mo.; a granddaughter, Kari (Bradley) Burmaster of St. Louis, Mo.; a grandson, Jay (Angela) Koehler of Fort Collins, Colo.; a great-granddaughter, Donavyn Burmaster; a brother, Alvin (Crystal) Koehler of Fall River; a niece; two nephews; and other relatives and friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mildred, on May 12, 2008; and a son, Donald.

 

The funeral service will be held Saturday, at 11 a.m., at the Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown, with the Rev. John Boehringer of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Watertown.

 

Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
