09 27       THEFT AT THE WISCONSIN HOUSE

Thursday of last week a stranger in this city was assigned a room at the Wisconsin House, and shortly afterwards was found a number of times walking around the hall in his stocking feet.  His actions were so suspicious that he was ordered from the house, and it was found after investigation that he had ransacked several of the rooms.  He was evidently looking for loose change.    WG

03 11       WISCONSIN HOUSE DAMAGED BY FIRE

Shortly before 1 o’clock Saturday morning the Fire Department was called out by a fire at the Wisconsin House at the corner of Main and 5th streets, an alarm being sent in from box 21.  The damage to building is about $1500 and $600 to contents.  The Wisconsin House is conducted by J. W. Oliver, who reports that when closed for the night everything seemed to be all right.  All the occupants of the house escaped without injury, but on the arrival of the Fire Department Robert Weatherby, the bartender, was found asleep in his room, which was filled with smoke.  He was aroused from his slumbers and taken out by fireman Gustav Doerr and other firemen, who climbed a ladder to the window of his room.   WG

 

09 16       WISCONSIN HOUSE REMODELED

A. H. Ikeler, the new proprietor of the Wisconsin House, has recently had the house remodeled and newly furnished throughout and is now prepared to cater to the travelling public in first class style.  He has had considerable experience in the hotel line, and has a most excellent helpmate in his estimable wife.   The Wisconsin House under Bert's management is sure to be popular.   WG

05 09       HOTEL IMPROVEMENTS

Plans have been drawn by Otto C. Riebe for the enlargement and improvement of the Wisconsin House.  Peter Noel, an experienced hotel man, has leased the hotel for a number of years and means to make it one of the most popular in the city.   WG
