Gambleís Store, 1934, 113 E Main
March††††† The first pre-fabricated home to be placed on sale in Watertown.† The home, or Quonset hut, 20 by 24 feet, placed on South Seventh Street, near Main, for display purposes by the Gamble Stores.† The home, which provides four rooms, is being shown by the Gamble Stores by appointment.† The homes had formerly been manufactured for the army.† The contract was cancelled at the end of the war, and the Gamble organization took it over.† The homes are made by a manufacturing concern near Minneapolis.† A home can be delivered in two and a half weeks after the order is placed.††

06 28†††††† A change in the tenancy of one of Main Streetís largest store buildings will take place next Thursday, July 1.† On June 30, Gambles, the present tenant, will vacate the building at 301 Main Street, to make way for the new tenant, Kline Bros, of New York City, who will open a department store at the location.† Gambles have operated a store in Watertown for at least 26 years, the last 10 of which have been in the present location.† The first store was located in the Tri-County Tobacco Company building in West Main Street.† The store also was located in Main Street in the building now occupied in Siegelís Economy Store, 113 Main Street, for many years.† Kline Bros, operates 22 department stores, mostly in the Middle West.† There also are a number of associate stores.† The Watertown store will be the first Kline store in Wisconsin.
03 31†††††† The new Gamble's Store at 415 Main Street is due to open the early part of April.† The manager of the store, Ulric Santner, has arrived in the city and is supervising preparations for the opening.† The grand opening is being planned for a later date, he said today.† The store will provide a complete mail order service in addition to the appliances and other items which it will carry at all times.
