03 30       A SMALL RED COW

STRAYED.   Came into the enclosures of the subscriber on Mr. Lavy’s farm in the southwest part of the town of Watertown, about 7 miles from the city, on the 18th of March, a small red cow, with a knob on one horn, and giving a little milk.  The owner is requested to prove property, pay charges and take her away.  – Thomas Brooks   WD

05 04       FIRE AT THOMAS BROOKS HOME

Last Sunday afternoon a couch at the home of Thos. Brooks, West Main Street, took fire from a lighted match carelessly thrown aside, and but for its timely discovery, a serious fire might have been the result.  The fire was communicated to other articles of furniture in the room, the loss being about $20.   WG

09 25       NEW FUNERAL CAR

Brooks & Boyle, the West Main Street undertakers, have now one of the finest funeral cars in the state.  It arrived here on Saturday last from the well-known Janesville carriage works.  It is of the very latest styles in funeral cars and is fitted out with everything late that goes with it.   WG
