William Zeiner, Sr

1908 - 2006

William B. Zeiner, 98, of Merced, CA, formerly of Watertown and Waupun, Wis., died on Monday, Oct. 9, 2006, in Merced. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11a.m. at St. Henry Catholic Church with the Rev. Bernard Rott officiating.

 

Burial will be in St. Henry Cemetery.

 

Visitation is at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials are suggested to St. Henry Catholic Church in Watertown. The Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown is in charge of arrangements.

 

William was born Jan. 8, 1908, in Watertown, son of Bernard and Anna (Paulic) Zeiner. He married the former Alice Vergenz on Oct. 19, 1929, in Watertown. William served in the Wisconsin National Guard and Cavalry, receiving an honorable discharge in 1928. He had been employed at the former Mid-State Shoe Factory in Watertown and Waupun.

 

William was a former member of St. Henry Catholic Church in Watertown and the Catholic Knights of Columbus. He was known as someone who could fix anything and was a very creative man.

 

William enjoyed playing cards, hunting and fishing with his children, and loved going on family vacations.

 

Surviving are his children, Richard (Fran) Zeiner of Sacramento, CA., William (Rose) Zeiner Jr. of Atwater, CA., Daniel (Mona) Zeiner of Merced, Mary (Herold) Webb of Woodland, CA., and Steven (Patricia) Zeiner of Appleton; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alice Zeiner; a brother, Edward Zeiner; and four sisters, Mildred Batenan, Ida Bredow, Ann Hertel and Mary Nowak.
