Weber, George J., Jr.

1923 - 2008

 

MADISON—George J. Weber died unexpectedly at home on Tuesday Nov. 4, 2008.  He was born June 10, 1923, in Watertown, the son of George W. and Renata M. (Hoefler) Weber.  He has been a Madison resident since 1931, and graduated from Edgewood High School and UW-Madison.  He was a veteran of the Army during World War II.  George was associated with his brother and father in the Weber Asphalt Co. of Madison, for seven years following the war.  He married Donna M. Platz in 1953.  He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1972.  George is descended from the Weber's, Bliefernicht's, Eupers's, Diekoff's and Hoefler's, who were all early Watertown settlers. 

 

George is survived by his sons, George (JoAnn), Gregory, Thomas (Sue), Steven (Francie), James, Nathan (Dawn) and David; his daughter, Diane; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Virginia Weber; and nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Sabrina R. Weber-Dominguez; and a brother, Robert Weber.

 

Private family services will be held at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison.  An inurnment will immediately follow at St. Henry's Catholic Cemetery, Watertown, with full military honors.
