Beatrice Schumann

1917 - 2008

 

Beatrice M. Schumann, 90, of Watertown, passed away April 6, 2008, at Marquardt Memorial Manor.

 

Beatrice was born on Oct. 19, 1917, in Watertown, the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Budzis) Schumann. She attended St. Henry Grade School, graduated from Watertown High School in 1935 and was salutatorian of her class.

 

Beatrice was employed at Wisconsin Bell Telephone Co. in Watertown for 39 years. She had the title of manager of operator services and retired in 1976. Beatrice was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church, the Catholic Women's Club, AARP, Watertown Senior and Community Center, Catholic Knights Branch 120, the Rock River Telephone Pioneers and Saturday Club.

 

Beatrice had been a volunteer at Beverly Terrace, St. Joseph's Home, and had driven for FISH. She enjoyed reading, playing cards and greatly enjoyed traveling, having seen the United States, Canada and Europe. She loved her dogs, especially the five Boston terriers she owned.

 

Survivors include her three first cousins, Kenneth Budis of Santa Barbara, Calif., Marimae Roder of Sun City, Ariz., and Alice Barnes of Beaver Dam; her four godchildren, Richard Kingsley of Genesee Depot, Hilary Kingsley of Rodondo Beach, Calif., and Kathleen Neuman and Marilyn Bork, both of Watertown.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother, Kenneth, in 1916.

 

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at noon at St. Henry Catholic Church with Father Brian Wilk officiating. Burial will be in St. Henry Cemetery.

 

Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.

 

Memorials to St. Henry Catholic Church would be appreciated.
