Robert Schaefer

1927 - 2014

 

http://watertowndailytimes.wi.newsmemory.com/newsmemvol2/wisconsin/watertowndailytimes/20140519/wdt-2014-05-19-a-011.pdf.0/img/Image_0.jpgRobert Warren Schaefer, age 87, passed away Friday, May 16, 2014.  Born in Millford on April 5, 1927, the son of Frank and Alice (Cunningham) Schaefer.  Robert was a hardworking devoted family man with a generous heart and a wicked sense of humor.  He began the family business, Schaefer Soft Water, engaging in a number of other successful business ventures along the way.  From farmhand where he met his bride, to construction work, to the “fix it “ engineer at Kress Packing and the restoration of the Charles Marquardt residence, Robert was a man of many talents.  In his later years, Robert was known for his fantastic holiday yard displays at his home in Watertown, the 4th of July Statue of Liberty, the partying elves on St. Patrick’s Day and Christmas holiday displays.

 

Robert is survived by his wife of 63 years, Barbara (Klecker) Schaefer; their children, Steven (Jacquie) Schaefer Madison, Linda Schaefer Richmond, Calif., Kathy (Dennis) O’Malley Evanston, Ill., Thomas Schaefer, Madison, and Jerry (Sheila) Schaefer, Dousman; 17 grandchildren and one great-grandson.

 

He was preceded in death by two sons, Phillip (Pam) Schaefer, Oak Creek, and David (Shari) Schaefer, Reeseville; his parents; three brothers, Harold, Art and Francis Schaefer; and two sisters, Mary Krause and Harriet Cardoni.

 

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday at noon at St Henry Catholic Church, 412 N. Fourth St., with Monsignor Daniel Ganshert celebrating.  Burial will be in the parish cemetery.  Family and friends may call on Friday from 9 a.m. to noon at the church. A lunch reception is planned. Barbara H. Schaefer

 

1930- 2018

 

Barbara H. Schaefer, age 87, of Watertown, passed away on Monday, Jan. 15, 2018, at Watertown Regional Medical Center.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Henry Catholic Church in Watertown with Father Miroslaw Szynal officiating.  Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.  Family and friends may gather from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.  Memorials, if desired, may be directed to St. Henry Catholic Church.

Barbara Helen Klecker was born on Nov. 15, 1930, in Watertown, the daughter of Herbert and Hilaria (nee Bruesenbach) Klecker.  She was a graduate of Watertown High School.  She had been employed at G.B. Lewis in Watertown.  On Sept. 9, 1950, she was united in marriage to Robert W. Schaefer.  Robert preceded her in death on May 16, 2014.  Barbara and Robert owned and operated Schaefer's Soft Water in Watertown.  She was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church where she sang in the Sunday Church Choir for many years and taught CCD classes. She also was a member of the Saturday Club and delivered Meals on Wheels. Barbara enjoyed a good card game with coins on the table.

Barbara is survived by her children, Linda Schaefer of Richmond, California, Kathy (Dennis) O'Malley of Evanston, Illinois, Thomas Schaefer of Madison and Jerry (Sheila) Schaefer of Dousman; daughters-in-law, Pamela Schaefer of Milwaukee, Shari Schaefer of Reeseville and Jacquie Schaefer of Madison; 17 grandchildren and two great-grandsons.

She was further preceded in death by her parents and sons, Phillip Schaefer, David Schaefer and Steven Schaefer.
