Joseph Richtmann

1837 - 1891

12 30 1837 - 1 27 1891

Watertown Gazette, 12 06 1891

Joseph Richtmann, only son of M. [Michael] Richtmann, died of bronchitis at his father’s home on Second Street, 1st ward, on Friday night, January 30th, 1891, aged 34 years and one month.

Deceased had been ill for over five months, and bore his suffering with a truly Christian spirit, passing to the life beyond well prepared to meet his Creator.

He was born in this city, and made it his home up to the time of his death.  For a number of years past, in company with his father, he conducted a general store on Second Street, and was greatly beloved by all who had dealings with him.

He was a most exemplary young man, and devout member of St. Henri’s Catholic Church.  Tuesday morning his funeral was held from that church, and his remains were followed to St. Henri’s cemetery by a large number of   sorrowing friends-there they were buried beside those of his mother, who preceded him to the world beyond some nine months ago.

Buried in parish cemetery.
