Robert J. Miller

1922 - 2013 J. Miller, 91, of Watertown, passed away Saturday morning, Nov. 2, 2013, at his home.


A memorial service will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. at St. Henry Catholic Church in Watertown, with Monsignor Daniel Ganshert officiating. Memorials to Rainbow Hospice of Jefferson would be greatly appreciated. The Hafemeister Funeral Home of Watertown is serving the family.


Online condolences may be made at Robert J. Miller was born in Mauston on Feb. 24, 1922, son of John and Alice (McGowan) Miller.


On Dec. 29, 1951, he married Patricia White in Chippewa Falls.


He was a graduate of Mauston High School, UW-La Crosse and received a masters degree from UW-Madison. He was a science teacher and coach in Stanley and from 1960 to 1985 Robert was a guidance counselor at Watertown High School.


Robert served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church, a lifetime member of the UW Alumni Association, the Wisconsin Education Association and the Elks Lodge in Watertown. Robert loved Wisconsin sports and always pulled for the underdog. He enjoyed golfing and taking care of his lawn.


Robert lived the dream he raised a good family and was totally in love with his wife, the mother of his children.


Survivors include his wife, Patricia of Watertown; his three sons, Charles (Claira) Miller of Gulf Breeze, Fla.; Patrick (Pamela) Miller and Michael Miller, both of Marshall; his four grandchildren, Ashley Miller-Pankow, Jamie Miller, Katie Miller and Mallory Kohlhoff; two great-grandchildren, Jaden and Mason Pankow, as well as in-laws and other relatives and friends.


Robert was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Charles and Edward Miller.
