Maxwell “Mackie” E. Miller

1912 – 2010

 

Maxwell “Mackie” E. Miller, 98, of Watertown, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 31, 2010, at Marquardt Memorial Manor.

 

Mackie was born on June 13, 1912, in Fort Atkinson, son of Max and Rose (Wetzel) Miller. He had served in the Wisconsin National Guard. On July 6, 1935, he married the former Marie Schmitt at St. Henry Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on Feb. 3, 2006.

 

Mackie was the owner/operator of the former Miller Alignment in Watertown. Following retirement he worked part-time for Schmutzler-Vick Funeral Home.

 

Mackie was an avid ice boater, bike rider and swimmer. He was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church.

 

Survivors include his son, Edward (Elsie) Miller of Oconomowoc; a grandson, Donald (Sophia) Miller of La Crosse; great grandchildren, Ian and Alex; other relatives and many friends.

 

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Robert; his parents; a sister, Elsie Erdman; and a brother, Harry Miller.

 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Henry Catholic Church with Father Brian Wilk officiating.  Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

 

Family and friends may call on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Schmutzler-Vick Funeral Home and Cremation Service and on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.

Marie Miller

1910 - 2006

 

Marie T. Miller, 95, of Watertown, died February 3, 2006, at Marquardt Memorial Manor.

 

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Henry’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Bernard Rott officiating.  Burial will be in St. Henry’s Cemetery.

 

The former Marie T. Schmitt was born on Nov. 7, 1910, in Watertown, the daughter of Peter and Barbara (Jana (or Yahna)) Schmitt.  She attended Jefferson Normal School and taught in several one room country schools.

 

On July 6, 1935, she married Maxwell Miller at St. Henry’s.  She was a member of St. Henry’s all her life and its Christian Mothers and Altar Confraternity.

 

Survivors include her husband, Maxwell; a son, Edward (Elsie) Miller of Oconomowoc; a grandson, Donald Miller; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Robert Miller; her parents; two sisters, Lillian Schmitt and Sister Joyce Schmitt; and five brothers, Joseph, Nickolas, Leo, William and George Schmitt.
