Paul Menzel

1892 - 1951

 

Paul J. Menzel, 59, former Watertown resident, died August 1, 1951, at his home in Merchantville, N. J.  He was born in Watertown June 20, 1892, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Menzel and attended St. Henry’s parochial school and Watertown High School.

 

In 1918 he moved East.  He was married in 1918 to Miss Josephine Baars. She survives, as do a sister and a brother, Mrs. Margaret Renz, Watertown, and Herbert Roegner, Wood, Wis.

 

Mr. Menzel had been employed as a shipbuilder at the Philadelphia shipyards, but five years ago, following an accident, was forced to retire.

 

He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic church in Merchantville .

 

A requiem funeral was held in that church after which the body was sent to Watertown. There was a brief service at the Boyle Funeral Home and interment was in St. Henry’s Cemetery.  Father A. J. Herrmann officiated.
