Gertrude Meitner

1912 - 2003

 

Gertrude M. Meitner, 90, of Watertown, died on May 4, 2003, at her home.

 

Funeral services were held at St. Henry’s Catholic Church.  Burial was in the parish cemetery.

 

The former Gertrude M. Seibel was born May 24, 1912, in the town of Emmet, daughter of Otto and Ida (Yahna) Seibel. She married Walter Meitner on April 24, 1946, at St. Henry’s.  He preceded her in death on Oct. 31, 1976.

 

Gertrude had farmed with her husband in the town of Emmet and had been employed at Aunt Nellie's in Clyman and at Brandt Automatic Cashier. She was a member of St. Henry’s and a former member of the Watertown Senior and Community Center.

 

Survivors include her son, Richard (Linda) Meitner of Watertown; four grandchildren, Thomas (fiancée Denise) Meitner, Jennifer (Brad) Wiedenhoeft, Michelle (Steve) Flood and Annette Meitner; a great-grandson, Jonathon Wiedenhoeft; a sister-in-law, Norma Seibel.

 

She was further preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Oscar Seibel; and a sister, Estella Husman.
