Harvey W. Gruchow

1918 - 2013

 

Harvey W. Gruchow, 95, of Watertown passed away on Thursday March 7, 2013, at Marquardt Health and Rehab Center.

 

Harvey was born on Jan. 25, 1918, in the town of Waterloo the son of Herman and Ida (Hell) Gruchow. He was a graduate of Waterloo High School. He married Rosemary Weber on Oct. 18, 1941, in Johnson Creek. Harvey was a shoe craftsman at Musebeck Shoe Co. for 43 years and also enjoyed working at the Kennedy car dealership for many years. He was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church. He volunteered at St. Vincent De Paul for many years. He loved his dog Goldie and enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with his family.

 

Survivors include his wife Rosemary of Watertown; five sons Harvey Jr. (Gayle) of Union Hall, N.C. , Robert (Lois) of Madison, Robin (Sue) of Madison, Terry (Linda) of Tampa, Fla., and Gregg of Watertown; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and three sisters. Memorials to Marquardt hospice would be appreciated.

 

A memorial mass will be held 11 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Henry Catholic Church with Msgr. Daniel Ganshert presiding. Visitation will be held on Tuesday 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

 

The family wishes to thank the Kennedy and Weber families for all their care and compassion through the years.
