Violet I. Giese

1911 – 2009

 

 

Violet I. Giese, 98, of Watertown, passed away Friday morning, Oct. 30, 2009, at Marquardt Memorial Manor in Watertown.

 

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Henry Catholic Church in Watertown with Father Brian Wilk officiating.  Burial will be in St. Henry Catholic Cemetery, Watertown.

 

Relatives and friends may call to pay their respects at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass.

 

Memorials, if desired, would be appreciated to the family.

 

Violet I. Schilberg was born in Concord on Feb. 22, 1911, daughter of William and Ida (Rohloff) Schilberg.  She married Lloyd E. Giese at St. Henry Catholic Church in Watertown on Nov. 28, 1936.  He preceded her in death on May 30, 1993.

 

Violet had been employed by the former Mid-State shoe factory in Watertown as a seamstress for many years.  She was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church in Watertown, Christian Mothers, Catholic Knights, Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary, and AARP.  Violet enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren as well as knitting, sewing, cooking, baking, and playing cards.

 

She is survived by her son, Richard (Barbara) Giese of Watertown; two grandchildren, Kyle Giese of Watertown and Laci (fiancé, Joshua Cummings) Giese of Oshkosh; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

Violet was further preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Leona Block; four brothers, Rudolph Schilberg, Ervin Schilberg, Leo Schilberg and Clarence Schilberg.
