Julietta Block

1879 - 1950

 

Mrs. Simon Block, 71, died March 17, 1950, peacefully in her sleep of a heart attack.  She had been making her home here with her daughter, Mrs. H. R. McEntire, 506 Jones Street.

 

Services were in St. Henry's Church and interment was in St. Henry's Cemetery. The Rev. A. H. Foltz officiated at the requiem mass.

 

Mrs. Block was the former Julietta Gritzner and was born in Milford on Jan. 13, 1879, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gritzner. She came to Watertown as a young woman and worked in the candy plant of Woodard and Stone.

 

She was married to Mr. Block on Nov. 29, 1900. Mr. Block, who preceded her in death, operated a barber shop here for many years.

 

Mrs. Block was widely known in the community. She was a member of St. Henry's Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers' confraternity as well as the Watertown Turner auxiliary.
