“After Jesus was baptized, . . . a voice came
from the heavens, saying,
‘This is my beloved Son, with
whom I am well pleased.’” Matthew
3: 16-17
The Twelfth Day of Christmas was yesterday,
the 6th, so here we are back in the swing of things but still basking in the
light of all the goodness Christmas brings to us faith and family-wise.
Next week we will be able to share the
winner of our school National Geographic Bee.
(Our assembly for that was this Friday afternoon, after the newsletter
was off the presses.) However, we can
share today the proud winners of the individual classroom competitions.
Grade 4:
Connor Loppnow and Sam Will
Grade 5: Colin Uecker and Ethan
Walter
Grade 6:
Karli Kohls and Mark Wagner Grade 7: Holly Krueger and Grace O'Connor
Grade 8:
Leah Uecker and Caleb Walter
Today the seventh and eighth grade students
will find permission slips for their archery unit. Last year the Watertown Archery Club
graciously offered their facility and assistance in making this possible. We are delighted to be able to participate
again. Nine physical education classes
will be held there between now and March.
Speaking of opportunities, parents of youngsters in grades two through
five will find information on a small slip in their envelopes from the
Watertown Aquatic Team about a meeting to be held this coming Monday, the 10th
at Riverside at 6:00 pm in their library.
I am always impressed how many great
activities are available to families in our Watertown community.
The Daily Times is running an article a
couple of times about the PlanCollege Seminar to be held here next Thursday,
the 13th. Our church bulletin made
mention of it too. Extremely worthwhile
and FREE. NO strings attached. The presentation is especially useful for
parents of seventh through twelfth graders but anyone is invited. It starts at 6:00 pm; please enter the school
by our front doors on Cady Street and proceed to room 104.
Because we are hosting our league’s A
basketball tournament the week of Monday, January 17th through Sunday, January 23rd,
the St. Henry Athletic Association has a plea for all kinds of help in the
carriers’ envelopes for K-8. (4K parents
more than welcome to help but since there is not a service hours requirement
for them, they won’t find that form if their child is the oldest in
school. Give us a call in the office and
we’ll be happy to get a form to you!)
Thanks in advance for everyone’s help.
It’s a good time, actually. Go,
Hawks!
