Fay Manthey

1930 - 2007

 

Fay S. Manthey, 77, of Watertown, passed away Saturday morning, Aug. 25, 2007, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

 

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. at St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Watertown with the Rev. James Werner officiating.

 

Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Watertown.

 

Relatives and friends may call at the Hafemeister Funeral Home on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Friday from noon until the time of the service.

 

The former Fay Fuller was born on Jan. 16, 1930, in Longville, Minn., daughter of Ralph and Edna (Horton) Fuller. On Aug. 30, 1950, she married Lewis R. Manthey at Longville Community Church in Longville.

 

Fay attended Longville Public Schools and was a 1948 graduate of Longville High School. She was also a 1949 graduate of the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis, Minn.

 

Fay had been employed by Ewald Bros. Dairy as a receptionist until August 1950. She was also employed as a nursing assistant at the former St. Mary's Hospital in Watertown and at Watertown Memorial Hospital for over 20 years.

 

Fay was a member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Watertown and a former member of the mixed choir, ladies aid and OWLS group. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She also enjoyed reading, baking and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

 

Surviving are her seven children, Gail (Tom) Poppert of Lake Mills, Ted (Terry) Manthey of Beaumont, Calif., Jim (Becca) Manthey of Green Bay, Gary Manthey of Kansas City, Mo., Dale (Kathy) Manthey of Port Orange, Fla., Linda (Todd) Rose of Watertown and Heidi (Todd) Wendt of Watertown; 13 grandchildren, Rachel (Scott) Palacek, Joel Poppert, Stephanie (Jack) Marshall, Sarah Manthey, Eric Manthey, Ryan (Becky) Manthey, Erin Manthey, Melissa Manthey, Lauren Rose, Nathan Rose, Tyler Butler, Austin Wendt and Natalie Wendt; six great-grandchildren, Austin Marshall, Cole Marshall, Hailey Marshall, Justice Manthey, Eyva Manthey and Sophia Palacek; and a sister, Mirijean Condon of Longville.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lewis, on March 3, 1999; and two brothers, Bud and Marvin Fuller.
