Henry Maldaner

1821 - 1891

Death of Henry Maldaner.

Henry Maldaner died of internal rheumatism at his home in the 1st ward on Wednesday night at 10 o’clock, Dec. 23,1891, in the 71st year of his age.  He was born in the Province of Nassau, New Prussia, on May 31, 1821, and located in Watertown in the fall of 1848, engaging in the mercantile business.  He continued in this business for about 10 years, and having made considerable money and invested it well, since that time has given his attention to his investments.

Deceased has been twice married, his first wife dying in March, 1862.  By his first wife he had five children, Henry, Albert, Frank, Paulina and Matilda, Henry and Albert having since died, and Paulina now being Mrs. Wm. A. Beurhaus.

His present wife, who survives him, was Miss Mary Racek, to who he was wedded in July, 1870, the result of this union being two children Edward and Arthur.

Mr. Maldaner was one of Watertown’s best known residents, and has always taken much interest in city affairs, at one time representing his ward in the city council.  He certainly made a success of life, and was always honorable in his dealings with his fellow citizens, all of who now regret to hear of his death.  His funeral will be held from his late home at 2 o’clock on Saturday afternoon.
