Claire Kaercher

1937- 2010

 

Claire Kaercher, 72, of Fort Atkinson, formerly of Watertown, passed away Sunday, Sept. 12, 2010, at Golden Living Center in Fort Atkinson.

 

A funeral service for Claire will be held at the Hafemeister Funeral Home on Thursday at noon with the Rev. Mark Gartner and the Rev. Anthony Schultz, of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Watertown, officiating.  Burial will be at a later date at Oak Hill Cemetery in Watertown.

 

The former Claire Reichert was born in Watertown on Nov. 7, 1937, daughter of Edward and Martha Reichert.  She married Edward Kaercher on Sept. 17, 1955, in Watertown.  He preceded her in death on Sept. 26, 2001.  Claire had been employed at the former Welbourne Hall in Watertown and was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church.  She enjoyed going to rummage sales, going for car rides, visiting her family and friends, shopping and fishing.  She also enjoyed listening to Elvis music and was a collector of Elvis memorabilia.

 

She is survived by her children, David (Kathy) Kaercher of Janesville, and Joan (Paul) Christensen of Jefferson; a granddaughter, Amber Kaercher; a stepgrandson, Josuha Smulders; and other relatives and friends.

 

Claire was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother and two sisters, Betty and Esther Reichert.
