Eileen D. Gutzdorf

1922 - 2019

 

 

Eileen D. Gutzdorf passed away on Monday, Aug. 19, 2019.

 

She was born Dec. 18, 1922 in Sullivan, the daughter of Ernst and Frieda (nee Polinske) Zautner.  

 

A funeral service will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Watertown with the Rev. Dustin Yahnke officiating.  Family and friends may gather at the church from noon until the time of service.  Interment will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery.  Memorials, if desired, may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church or school.

 

Hafemeister Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Watertown is serving the family.

 

Eileen graduated from Watertown High School in 1940.  She was married to William Gutzdorf on March 23,1946, at the parsonage of Trinity Lutheran Church by the Rev. Kurt Timmel.

 

Eileen was a stay at home mom until her children were grown, and then worked at Clark Oil and My Store.  Eileen volunteered at Bethesda Lutheran Home, Marquardt Manor, Trinity Church and Trinity-St. Luke’s School, where she volunteered for over 20 years.  Eileen is survived by her five children, John (Sue) Gutzdorf of Plover, Timothy of Watertown, Thomas (Hope) Gutzdorf of Watertown, Robert (Cheri) Gutzdorf, of Watertown, Jean (Gary) Sterwalt of Watertown; nine grandchildren; four step grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 14 step great-grandchildren; brother, Jerry (Donna) Zautner; sister-in-law, Audrey Zautner; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Gutzdorf; her parents; two sisters; two brothers; and two siblings in infancy.
