Douglas Groves

1944 - 2006

 

Douglas L. Groves, 61, of Watertown, died on Jan. 22, 2006, at Watertown Memorial Hospital.

 

Funeral services will be held at the Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown with Pastor Fred Smith of Watertown Community Church officiating.

 

Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Watertown.

 

Douglas was born on April 12, 1944, in Wheeler, Texas, the son of Douglas and Mary (Castillo) Groves. He married Glenda Anderson on May 18, 1968, in Winterhaven, Calif.

 

He was a graduate of St. Angelo Nursing School and served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He had been employed at the Watertown Memorial Hospital until his retirement.

 

Douglas was a member of the Watertown Community Church and loved to fish and read the Bible. He will be dearly missed.

 

He is survived by his wife, Glenda Groves; a son, Douglas S. Groves of Watertown; a daughter, Sheri Rocha of Watertown; two sisters, Jackie Riger of Baltimore, Md., and Sylvia (John) Meisenheimer, of Alvin, Texas; four grandchildren, Ashley Groves, Mallory Groves, Matthew Groves and Evan Rocha; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

Douglas was preceded in death by his father.
