Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Hafemeister Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Watertown, with the Rev. Dr. Neil Rand of Faith Lutheran Church in Watertown, officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Watertown. Relatives and friends may call to pay their respects at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated. Hafemeister Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Watertown is serving the family. Gaye Lynn Kopplin was born in Clintonville on Jan. 5, 1969, daughter of Harold and Kay (Erickson) Kopplin. On May 4, 2004, she married James Baneck Sr. at Zion Lutheran Church in Clyman.

 

Gaye was a graduate of UW-Whitewater and received a masters degree in social work from UW-Milwaukee. She had been employed at Rogers Memorial Hospital in Oconomowoc as a social worker.

 

She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and its fellowship committee. Gaye loved spending time with her family and enjoyed cooking, baking, doing artwork and cats. In her younger years, she was active in sports.

 

Survivors include her husband, James Baneck Sr. of Helenville; two children, Connor and Jenna; her parents, Harold and Kay Kopplin of Watertown; two stepsons, James (Amanda) Baneck Jr. of Johnson Creek and Eric (Hannah) Baneck of Lake Mills; two stepgrandchildren, Mason and Chloe; a sister, Tammy (Scott) Hurley of Champlin, Minn., and a brother, Kirk (Kaye) Kopplin of Madison, as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

Gaye was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents.
