John W. Arzberger

1920 - 2009

 

John W. Arzberger, 89, of Watertown, found peace Wednesday morning, Nov. 4, 2009, at HCR Manor Care in Pewaukee.

 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 204 N. Tenth St., Watertown, with the Rev. Terry Larsen officiating.  Burial, with military graveside rites being conducted by the Watertown American Legion Post No. 189, will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Watertown.

 

Relatives and friends may call to pay their respects at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

 

Memorials to the church would be appreciated.

 

John Walter Arzberger was born in Watertown on June 12, 1920, son of Dr. Walter and Doris (Schulze) Arzberger.  He married Genevieve Boerger at Cross Lutheran Church in Ixonia on Feb. 17, 1951.

 

John attended school in Watertown, graduated from Watertown High School and from Oshkosh State Teachers College.  He was a sales agent for W.B. Rom & Son in Wauwatosa and had owned and operated Drill & Derrick Supplies in Watertown.

 

John was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Watertown.  He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, fishing and playing the organ. John's true passion throughout his life was tending his apple orchard.

 

John is survived by his wife, Genevieve Arzberger of Watertown; his two sons, Alan (Denise) Arzberger of Pewaukee and Dean (Karen) Arzberger of Oconomowoc; five grandchildren, Amanda, Nicole, Shannon, Zackary and Rebecca Arzberger; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

He was the last member of his immediate family, being preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Barbara Maas.
