Dolores A. “Dolly” Winkler

1922 - 2011

 

Dolores A. “Dolly” Winkler, 89, of Watertown, passed away on Saturday afternoon at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

 

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Henry Catholic Church in Watertown with Father Jorge Miramontes officiating.  Burial will be in St. Henry Catholic Cemetery in Watertown.  Relatives and friends may call to pay their respects at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Henry Catholic Church or Rainbow Hospice would be appreciated.

 

The former Dolores Augusta Fendt was born on June 15, 1922, in Watertown, daughter of Gerhard and Leona (Ruesch) Fendt.  She attended St. Henry Catholic Grade School in Watertown and was a 1940 graduate of the Watertown High School.  On Jan. 26, 1946, she married Edward H. Winkler at St. Henry Catholic Church in Watertown.  Dolly had been employed at F.W. Woolworth Department Store, Hornburg Motors, Marr Chiropractic Office and Wisconsin Hearing Aid Center, all in Watertown.  She was a lifelong member of St. Henry Catholic Church and a former member of the choir, Christian Mothers Society, altar guild and the Catholic Knights.  Dolly was also a member of the Watertown Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary No. 3709.

 

Dolly loved spending time with her family. She also loved to sing and play sheepshead and bingo.

 

Dolly is survived by a daughter, Sharon Winkler of Watertown; three sons, James Winkler of Watertown; Gary (Beth) Winkler of Watertown and Michael (Carolyn) Winkler of Butler, Pa.; seven grandchildren, Tori (fiancé Jeff Dewey) Owen, Katrina Fredrick, Jaymes Winkler, Thomas Winkler, Valerie Winkler, Kevin Lange and Brandi Ruder; seven great-grandchildren, Deven Owen, Tristin Winter, Jailyn Jenkins, Ryan Jenkins, Brianna Fredrick, Dylan Ruder and Madison Ruder; a sister, Rosemary (Gordon) Checki of Watertown; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

Dolly was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ed on June 29, 1988; and a great-granddaughter, Daniell Nichoel Owen.
