Donald R. Price

Donald Radke Price was born on Oct. 29, 1920 in Elkhorn, the son of Hiram T. and Martha C. (Radke) Price. He served in the U.S. Army in the 32nd Red Arrow Division, 107th Quartermasters Corp. in the Pacific Theater from Oct. 2, 1940, to Sept. 27, 1945. Donald was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for valor in action in the South Pacific during the Battle of Buna, New Guinea, 1942. He graduated from UW-Madison with a bachelor of science degree in agriculture in 1949. On Aug. 21, 1951, he married the former Joan Davies in Dubuque, Iowa. Donald worked for Farmers Home Administration, General Mills and Midland Co-op as a dairy ration adviser. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Watertown, a life member of VFW Post No. 3709 and the Legion of Valor. Donald was proud to have taken the Honor Flight to Washington D.C. for World War II Veterans in September of 2009 with his son’s father-in-law, Richard Johns.

 

Don is survived by his sons, Trevor (Leigh Ann) Price and Tim Price all of Watertown; two grandchildren, Austin and Charlotte Price; a sister-in-law, Carol (Robert H.) Price of East Troy; sister, Margaret Nelson of Fort Atkinson; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joan in 2008 and brothers, Thomas and Robert Price.

 

A family service with military graveside rites will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery at a later date. Online condolences may be left at svfuneralhome.com.
