Clarence E. Peirick

1921-2012

 

Clarence E. Peirick, age 90, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2012.

Clarence was born in Lebanon on Oct. 7, 1921, son of William and Mary (Pitterle) Peirick.  He served in World War II from 1942-1946 with the 94th General Hospital and he was a member of Watertown American Legion No. 189.

 On Sept. 29, 1951, he married the former Gertrude Byrne at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Watertown.  He took over the family farm in Lebanon and farmed until his retirement in 1986, when he and Gert moved to Watertown.  He was a member of the Universal Cooperative Association, serving a term as secretary of the organization.  He also belonged to St. Henry Catholic Church and the Lebanon Fire Department, holding the office of treasurer.

Surviving are his wife, Gertrude of Watertown; one son, Donald (LuAnn) of Lebanon; six daughters, Jean (David) Braun of Livermore, Calif., Ann of Milwaukee, Carol (Michael Rodriguez) of Middleton, Lois (Lee) Weyers of New Berlin, Irene (Michael) Steinl of Waunakee and Julie (Bryan) Wood of Wauwatosa; 11 grandchildren; four sisters, Marcella Jentzsch of Brookfield, Ill., Agnes Schuett of Watertown, Mary (Jim) Henry of Brownsburg, Ind., and Joanne (Jerold) Blank of Beaver Dam.

He is preceded in death by five brothers, Leonard, Edward, Norbert, Raymond and William Peirick; and two sisters, Helen Peirick and Lillian Peck.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Henry Catholic Church on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Monsignor Daniel Ganshert officiating.  Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Relatives and friends may call to pay their respects from 4-7 p.m. at Schmutzler-Vick Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 500 Welsh Road, Watertown, and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. There will be a vigil service on Friday at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family greatly appreciates the attentive and compassionate care given to Clarence by the staff at Marquardt Manor.
