Melzer’s was located at the site of the present C. A. Feisst Co. liquor store, South Third and Market Streets.

The store then was of a different type.  One had to climb a few stairs to get into the building.  It was operated by the late Max Melzer who served for many years as secretary of the old Watertown Businessmen’s Association, a forerunner of the Watertown Area Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Melzer, in addition to a line of grocers, handled many types of seeds and the place was known far and wide.
