St. Henry’s 1959 Graduates Honored
Breakfast and Program Held This Morning
1959
The 1959 graduates’ breakfast of St. Henry’s School was held in the school cafeteria on Friday morning. This annual custom was begun in 1952, and is sponsored each year by the Home and School Association.
Thirty-three graduates, their parents, and the seventh grade pupils attended the 7:45 high mass for the graduates celebrated by the Very Rev. Anthony J. Herrmann.
The children’s choir accompanied and under the direction of Sister M. Rita Ann sang the Mass.
On arriving in the cafeteria they found the tables attractively decorated with topiary trees and dolls dressed in “cap and gown.” At each place lay a breakfast program booklet which included the class prayer, colors, motto, and patron as well as a tribute to Sister M. Columbine.
Blessing
The breakfast blessing was led by Father A. J. Herrmann.
After a delicious breakfast James Kellerman, acting as toastmaster, expressed the gratitude of the class to their superiors, and presented a gift to Father Herrmann.
Father Elmer J. Dietzel, curate, was presented with a gift, and when called upon to say a few words, reminded the departing students of the importance of God in the World of today.
Father David H. Runde , curate, was also presented with a gift and spoke briefly.
Sister M. Columbine, teacher of the graduating class the past year, after being presented with a gift, reminded the class of their motto, “Build for Character, Not for Fame,” and expressed gratitude to the parents, colleagues and priests.
